Locations
The gathering locations, and which one to grind
Most of your early and mid game income comes from gathering locations. Each has its own currency, its own crate key, its own skill and its own signature rare drop. Blocks respawn after 10 seconds, so the limit is how fast you can break them.
Weeping Woodlands
Chop trees for money, orbs, forest hearts and Woodland keys, across 9 levels. Every log pays money, orbs and Woodcutting XP, and the rare drop rates improve at every single level, which is why pushing levels is worth far more than it looks.
Money per log runs $3 at level 1 up to $27 at level 9. Orbs run 4 up to 13. Only levels 7 to 9 drop forest hearts at all, so the top of the ladder is a different location to the bottom.
The Mineshafts
Mining, paying out in orbs and Mineshaft keys, with spirit bones as the
signature rare drop. A spirit bone cashes in through /spiritbone for amethyst, resin,
honeycomb or a creaking heart at roughly a quarter chance each, with a 0.99% roll for 20 Mineshaft
keys.
Pirates Bay
Digging sand, which is also where fragments come from, the currency behind
/fragmentshop. The signature drop is the treasure chest, redeeming for fragments,
amethyst, resin, honeycomb, a creaking heart or 20 Piratebay keys.
Dragon Valley
Dragon Valley runs on a schedule rather than a level ladder, and feeds dragon crates. Worth checking what is active before you commit an evening to it.
Why levels beat hours
Every location improves its rare drop chance at every level, so an hour at level 9 is worth several at level 1. If you are choosing where to spend a week, pick one location and finish its ladder rather than half levelling three.
Then prestige stacks on top
Once a location is maxed you can prestige it, and this is where the numbers get serious. Each prestige adds a permanent bonus to that location's signature drop:
| Location | Signature drop | Per prestige | At prestige 25 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mineshafts | Spirit Bones | +1 in 5,000 | 1 in 200 blocks |
| Woodlands | Forest Hearts | +1 in 10,000 | 1 in 400 logs |
| Pirates Bay | Treasure Chests | +1 in 10,000 | 1 in 400 sand |
| Dungeons | Mega Boss reward | +1 in 2,500 | 1 in 100 kills |
That stacks on top of the base rates, so a fully prestiged mineshaft is a completely different spirit bone rate to a fresh one.
Farming, the location you build yourself
Crop farming happens on your own island and pays +1 Farming XP per crop harvested, +3 per planted and +1 per block tilled. One crop is boosted each day out of a rotation of eight, and harvesting the boosted crop gives roughly a 0.75% chance of a bonus, rising to 1% on carrots. Build all eight farms in advance so you are never caught out by the rotation.
Frequently asked questions
How many gathering locations are there?
Weeping Woodlands, the Mineshafts, Pirates Bay and Dragon Valley, plus crop farming on your own island. Each has its own currency, crate key, skill and signature rare drop.
How fast do blocks respawn?
Ten seconds, so how much you earn is limited by how fast you can break blocks rather than by waiting.
Which gathering location is best?
Whichever one you finish. Rare drop rates improve at every single level, so an hour at the top of one ladder beats several hours spread across three half levelled ones.
